Welcome to Learning Lab

We’re thrilled to announce that The Rotman School of Management and Jump Associates have teamed-up to teach MBA students about new business creation!

Starting on May 3rd, Rotman students will begin an intensive, hands-on “Learning Lab” at JumpSpace in San Mateo, CA. The Jump Learning Lab is way for participants to gain knowledge and experience in developing new businesses while simultaneously tackling a real-world challenge. The upcoming workshop, which will marry theory with practice, is designed to expose Rotman students to a specific and repeatable process for driving growth as they explore the healthy eating space. The week will include methods training, field research, participant interviews, ideation sessions and business planning.

The goal of this course will be to create new service-based business concepts around healthy eating. We’ll be looking for business concepts that address both people’s real unmet needs and consider big social challenges. These new opportunities should be attractive, high-growth businesses that can be launched in the near-term. It’s a lofty task, but we know the Rotman students are up to the challenge of solving big, ambiguous questions, just like this.

This blog will provide readers with an opportunity to tag along as we explore food, health care, new business creation, and new processes for innovation. Through it all, we’ll also be considering the changing face of business education, pushing ourselves away from business thinking that’s focused on financial engineering and towards building sustainable, long-term growth by meeting the real needs of ordinary folks.
